L’Amourose Mya Beads

L'amourose Mya BeadsThe L’Amourose Mya Beads certainly are pretty, I’ll give them that. While they look very faceted and gem-like on the L’amourose site, the faceted design in reality is under a smooth, clear plastic dome and can be hard to see. I imagine this is to make it easier to clean?  I received the Pro set for review, although I find the scarlet red of the Lite version to be more striking and gem-like.  There’s really not much difference between the Pro and Lite, which is odd. According to the site, both Pro and Lite weigh 76 grams for the duo beads. The single bead weighs 28 grams in the Lite version and 39 grams in the Pro version.

But do they work? And are they better than the contender to beat, Lelo Luna Beads Classic?

Unlike the Luna Beads, the L’Amourose Mya beads aren’t interchangeable within the holster. You’ll get a single bead and a double bead in each set, so there’s a lot less gradual change in weight training. The Mya beads work on the same principle as all of these kegel  beads which is passive – a weighted inner ball knocks against the plastic outer bead which pings the PC muscles which causes a teeny contraction which is like lifting a teeny weeny barbell, each pinged contraction equaling a rep. In order to really work as best as they possibly can, the weighted ball inside really needs to ping a fair amount. I’ve never found any kegel bead set that works better than the Luna Beads Classic (their smaller versions do not work as well in my experience) due to the amount of space the weighted inner bead has to move around. Because of the oval shape of the Mya Beads though the rattle of the inner weighted bead is erratic at best. It has less room to move and if it’s hitting the short sides then it’s barely a whisper. Because of this, I wasn’t really able to feel anything happening when I wore them. I would sometimes feel it if the inner balls were rattling along the longer end of the oval but the feeling of movement just wasn’t as consistent as with the Luna Beads Classic.

The Mya Beads are encased in a thin silicone holster that is permanent. On the up side, the silicone retrieval band is not stretchy! No accidental rubber-band snaps to the vulva, yay! On the down side, the fact that the silicone holster can’t be removed is making is difficult to get these totally clean. I’ve pretty much resorted to a toothbrush for getting in between the double-beat set.

L'amourose Mya Beads cleaning issues - despite being washed well, there's still evidence of dried fluids where the silicone holster meets the beads L'amourose Mya Beads Case

As for the physical size, the single is 32mm x 37mm, compared to Luna Classic which is 35mm around, and the useless-in-my-opinion Luna Mini is 29mm around. So the double set is nothing small, and those who found Luna Classic uncomfortable won’t like the Mya Beads.

I’m sad that I can’t give these my stamp of approval. I think they’re the best-looking kegel beads around and the L’amourose warranty is great – 18 months.  They do come with a hard plastic carrying case (Luna Beads only come with a fabric pouch) which is also classy. The price (MSRP seems to be $65, but Lovehoney lists them at a whopping $80) reflects the classy design, the case and the warranty and if the inner beads rattled to my satisfaction I would feel better about recommending them despite the lack of interchangeable weights. Overall though, I’m impressed with L’amourose as a brand and am enjoying the hell out of two of their vibrators, which I’ll be reviewing soon and will be available from SheVibe very soon.  So while I can’t really recommend the Mya Beads, I can tell you to wait right here, something good is about to happen.

Hey Lilly, I’m new to the site, wow, so much new info for me to process,
thanks for writing about all this! Anyway, I was wondering if you ever
heard of/tried the Rianne S Pussy Play Balls, and if so, how they might
compare to the Luna Beads. I was browsing online and found those in the
web store of a (for me) local store (Mail&Female in the
Netherlands). The set contains four balls of 15, 25, 35 and 55 grams,
and a holder for two balls. I might go to the physical store to compare
the to the Luna Beads in my hands before buying, but I thought I’d ask
    anyway.
