Review: The Love Seat Vibrator Cushion for Hitachi Magic Wand

Whew, what a mouthful of a title! So this review is for something that is pretty unique and can be viewed as the “Sybian Lite” in a way. It fits into the sex furniture category but also the Hitachi accessory category. As you’ve gathered from the title it’s a cushion meant to hold the Hitachi Magic Wand so that you can straddle it and grind away hands-free to orgasm.

The product was originally called “My Buddy”; maybe it’s my age but there’s one thing that pops into my head when I hear that name and it will always and forever be this annoying child’s talking doll from the 80’s. Or 90’s. whenever it was.

The Love Seat is a block of foam covered in a stretchy nylon-ish fabric. The foam is carved out a little up top and there’s an opening sliced open from top to bottom that you thread the cord through and then the handle of the massager through; the massager is then surrounded by foam. It’s really very simple to figure this thing out. You don’t need to remove the cover to insert the massager, you just shove a hand down the center with the plug of the cord in hand, and get that through to the bottom of the Love Seat. Keep pulling and then push the handle down inside.

The company also makes a controller that you can plug into the wall then plug the cord for the massager into it and it is like a dimmer switch. While it won’t make the Hitachi any more or less powerful than it already is, it offers a few valuable good points:

  • Extends the cord of the Hitachi by a good bit
  • Gives you a way to turn the Hitachi on, off, and change speeds. Otherwise you have to shove your hand down inside the foam to get to the switch.
  • Allows you to gently ramp up the speed on the Hitachi from low to high with a good bit of in-between power.

I wasn’t given one of these with my Love Seat to review, but I can tell you that it would be super useful. Getting to that switch takes a little bit of effort, especially if you’re already involved and don’t want to stop.

The foam is average and not as firmly supportive as Liberator or whatever the Sybian is underneath its cover. When you sit back on it the foam will squish dowm. The fabric covering is nothing to write home about. It’s fastened together underneath with eye-hooks and the sewing of the edges was a little less-than-stellar. The fabric itself is not at all waterproof – if you’re a gusher you will get the foam wet. The fabric covering can be thrown into the washer on gentle cycle. The foam should be soaked in a mild detergent/water solution a few times, wrung out as best as you can, and left to dry out completely for 48 hours before you put the cover back on to use it.

This can be used with many of the massager-style vibes on the market. I put the Acuvibe into it, and that works well (but of course you wouldn’t be able to use the controller box with the Acuvibe). The Miracle Massager fit into it. Basically any massager of similar size will work, and the controller will work with any plug-in style massager. As of this writing, the cushion by itself sells for $89 on the manufacturer’s website. The controller sells for $59, or you could buy the two together for $129.

If you own one of the g-spot Hitachi attachments it would really turn this thing into a Sybian-lite! Just don’t use an attachment that points straight up from the handle like this one.

The concept is great and I’m surprised that no one had thought of it before, given the mass popularity of the Hitachi. You’ve got a few ways to use this but the primary position the design is meant for is that the user kneels over it – think Cowgirl or Doggy style positions, just solo. I had thought that I’d be able to straddle it and have sex doggy style, but after a few failed attempts at positioning we gave up. If you’re really into g-spot stimulation or just having something inside of you I’d really recommend getting one of the many Hitachi attachments on the market (see this post for a refresher course). If you’re thin and do not have short arms, you’re likely able to reach around the back of your thigh so you could fuck yourself with a dildo in that position. Me? I’m fat and I have short arms. I tried using the Pure Wand from front access – I wasn’t able to move the Pure Wand in the way I like to and thrusting was very difficult. I tried this on my bed and also on my office chair, both with pretty good success for solo missions. The office chair method required stronger legs than I apparently have, because I was a little sore the next day.

For the price of it I think that the quality could be a lot better. I think that the price is what it is because there’s been nothing else (yet) on the market at all like it. To truly be worth it’s current cost I would like to see a firmer foam and a waterproof covering (like what Liberator uses) so that the foam core doesn’t ever get wet. However the squishiness of the foam does mean that you could compress it so that it could fit into a suitcase for travel!

Thanks to Cici for letting me review this!!

Is it worth it? Do you use the love seat with your Hitachi often? Or just hold the Hitachi? Im just wondering if its worth it to buy and if were gonna use it often.

~I stopped after a while bc it was too cumbersome for me personally. I recently for the Axis Hitachi from Liberator and will be reviewing it shortly, and I like it better.
