I know that I’ve got a good number of readers who are also bloggers – and a lot of those are in the sex blog category.  I also bet that a lot don’t really know about Sugasm - what it is, how one gets a post in there, what qualifies, etc.

And I know of a number of veteran sex bloggers who have become jaded about Sugasm. I’ve heard negative talk about it for one reason or another. “All the same people all the time” and “a clique”. I personally see a few sites putting entries in that many feel don’t belong because they’re a big commercial site and I would agree.

So if you’re reading this and you have a sexy blog and you don’t know about Sugasm, here’s what you should know:

~Everybody who has a post listed in a Sugasm digest submitted it on their own – it wasn’t picked by someone else.

~What IS picked by others is what you see listed as “This Week’s Picks”. After the submission period closes for an issue, everyone who submitted something is sent out an email containing a mock-up of what you see on the website. They then reply back to the editor with their 3 choices for the best post out of all those.

~And of course the Sugasm Editor picks out one that she felt was a great post that week that didn’t make the Top Three.

~Everybody who participated in that issue has to post that issue on their blog within a week of it coming out. Some people will only post the required portion (which is the Top 3, Editors pick, and sugasm back-links) and some people will post the entire list.

~All this reposting gets your blog exposure to others who don’t read it already.

~There’s a lot of stuff that qualifies to be submitted. Your hot recounting of a great night of sex or even a failed night of sex. Sexy, humorous, vanilla, kinky, real or fiction, a great HNT photo, a post about relationships or sex advice, your epic sex toy review, and so on. Pretty much if it’s about sex, relationships or anything related you can submit it.

~Sugasm was originally a weekly deal. For whatever reason, it’s trickled down to about once or twice a month. When it was weekly the submission period time frame and the official Sugasm post day were pretty consistently set in stone. It’s now random so keep an eye on it.

There’s rules – relevancy, only one submission per digest (even if there’s a few weeks in between Sugasm postings), and the post you submit has to have been published after the previous Sugasm went live. You fill out the submission form here when the call for submissions is open. If you have an RSS reader your best bet is to subscribe to the feed because the submission period is generally only a few days. After that, just hang tight and wait for the email from Radical Vixen containing the mock-up and you can vote. That’s all there is to it. No secret handshake, no hidden doors.
