So sorry! I lost both of my cats in October ’07 – three weeks apart from each other. The house was so empty and quiet, that I got two kittens within a week. I still miss my original kitties so much. And I often find ‘the kittens’ sitting in the spot where one of my kitties died. It makes me sad. I hope you will replace the sadness and emptiness with the great memories you had.

Until you’ve lost a beloved pet most have no clue what that is like. Most will say, “Oh hell, it’s just a dog (or cat). What’s the big deal?” I’ll tell you what the big deal is: More than likely the pet has become your best friend . . . your constant companion. . . something you sleep with every night and who renders unconditional love.

I lost my best friend Jilli, dog extrodinare, a year ago in January. Just now am I able to talk about our loss without completely losing it. We were that close.

So, take care. Cry a lot. Occupy yourself. Cherish the memories. And I guess getting a new cat will help to some degree . . . but not really. It takes time and not a new pet to heal the hurt you’re feeling. Take care.

Oh god, honey, I’m so sorry about Inky. I know how much she meant to you. I remember times she made you smile, times she made you mad, times she made you crazy. She was a wonderful girl, and I miss her too.
